One Word Film
In the One Word Film project we were given a word, which we had to use to make a story representing that word. We had to make a storyboard to display how and what shots we would use to demonstrate the word, we were not allowed to use dialogue. After that, we had to use editing techniques to improve the film and pull it all together. We were given the word-loving which is not too hard to display but makes it a little harder without dialogue. First off we thought about how we would display that word, our first thought was to characters in love, or in love with an object but we decided that people in love would be better. I used a physical storyboard to draw out the story and develop the idea I had. A few days later we filmed and used a stabilizer to help get non-shakey shots. Luckily we were able to use to people in our class to be the lovers and it worked out pretty well. Finally, when it came to editing it was a pretty hard process for me because I didn't take the HDR off of my phone when filming so it made it much harder to color grade but I was able to get around it and it seemed to turn about better than before.
I thought of what would be the best way to display that word and what shots or techniques could help me display that.
The storyboard helped me visualize the shots before shooting and how I would use the camera to capture them. It also helped me when shooting by helping me remember the shots and why I did it like that.
I used Premiere Pro to edit the project because I was already familiar with it since I use it all the time for TV Production videos.
I think that the shots and the storyboarding was done well, though I think it would have been a bit better if I used my film camera than my phone camera. The shooting of the film was good but I should have took multiple shots for most shots I did. I also think that the color grading could have been better. I should improve for the next project, attention to detail, and editing techniques.
