I learned about how sound is a important thing that helps establish a story, the use of sounds helps the audience have contexts in what is happening. Foley sound is also a very important post production job, foley is the creation of sounds made by others and not naturally from the movie.
The directions for the Sound project was to make a story with only sound and no video. We had to create 4 foley sounds and the rest could be from other sources. There was also a restriction to only being able to say 7 words.
My partner and I instantly started to brainstorm ideas and as many came across he came up with one that was interesting which is an UFO human abduction. We started to think of some sounds that we thought would represent the abduction. The outline was also a nig help in organizing our sounds, almost like if we were making a storyboard for sound. After we did our brainstorming the next day we went out and did our foley sounds. Once we came back I looked for some SFX for the rest of the sounds and my partner started to edit it on GarageBand. We thought it would be easier to use GarageBand because it is focused on sound and not video like Premiere Pro.
I feel that most of our foley sounds were done well but I feel that we could have made more creative ways to do them. I also feel that our idea was good and something unexpected.
